With a movie that takes its name from combining words "religion" and "ridiculous" to form "Religulous," a funny poster is to be expected. [via /Film] Lionsgate has finally released one, which features Bill Maher's face on a piece of toast. This is referring to the many people finding the face of Jesus and Elvis on food. The tagline states "Do you smell something burning?"
The film follows Maher as he travels around the globe interviewing people about God and religion. Known for his astute analytical skills, irreverent wit and commitment to never pulling a punch, Maher brings his characteristic honesty to an unusual spiritual journey.
"Comedically, the topic of religion is hitting the side of a barn – it's literally hard to miss," said Maher. "This movie will make you laugh so hard you'll pray for it to stop."
Director Larry Charles (Borat) added: "Nietzsche said God is dead, but he didn't see the grosses for 'Passion of the Christ.'"
